Contact lens fittings in Rochester Hills: dailies, monthlies, and finding the lens you forget you're wearing

Two people can wear the same brand of lens and have opposite experiences: one forgets they're wearing them, the other counts the hours to taking them out. The lens didn't change; the fit did. Here is how a proper contact lens fitting works at 20/20 Vision and how we land you in the first group.
Why a contact lens exam is its own thing
A glasses prescription can't simply be copied onto a contact lens. The lens sits on your eye, so the power changes, and the lens has to match the curvature and diameter of your cornea. Dr. Dolan measures both, checks your tear film (dry-leaning eyes need specific materials), and examines the surface of the eye before any lens goes on. Then trial lenses go on, settle, and get checked under magnification for how they sit and move with each blink.
Dailies or monthlies?
- Daily disposables: a fresh sterile lens each morning, nothing to clean, lowest infection risk, ideal for first-timers, teens, travel and part-time wear. Slightly higher cost per wearing day if you wear them daily.
- Monthly lenses: better economics for every-day wearers, with newer materials that stay comfortable late into the day, in exchange for a nightly cleaning routine.
- Astigmatism: toric versions of both exist and work well when fitted precisely. More here.

What the fitting costs and covers
A contact lens exam is a separate fee from a routine eye exam because it includes the measurements, trial lenses and follow-up visits until the fit is right. Most vision plans, including VSP and EyeMed, contribute to both the fitting and an annual supply, and an annual supply usually unlocks rebates. We'll price it before you commit.
