Eyeglass repair and adjustments in Rochester Hills: what we fix while you wait
Crooked glasses, a lost screw, a nose pad that fell off in the car. Most of it is a five-minute fix. Here's what we can do, and what we can't.
Glasses take a beating. They get sat on, dropped, worn in the shower, tossed on the dashboard. Before you buy a new pair, bring the old one in. Most repairs happen at the front counter while you wait.
Fixed while you wait
- Adjustments. Crooked, sliding, pinching, one lens higher than the other. Our opticians re-align the frame to your face with the right tools and heat, which is why a home adjustment with pliers usually makes it worse.
- Screws. Temple screws, hinge screws, the tiny ones that hold nose pads. We have them.
- Nose pads and temple tips. Replaced in minutes. Silicone pads for people who slide, softer tips for people who get sore behind the ears.
- Loose hinges. Tightened, and sometimes re-pinned.
- Cleaning and tune-up. An ultrasonic clean and a full adjustment make a two-year-old pair feel new.
New lenses in your own frame
If you love your frame and your prescription changed, or the lenses are scratched, we can cut new lenses for it, often with better coatings than the originals. The frame needs to be in sound condition; acetate that's gone brittle can crack during lens insertion, and we'll tell you if that's a risk before we start.
What we usually can't fix
A snapped plastic bridge or a broken hinge on a molded plastic frame generally can't be repaired reliably. Metal frames can sometimes be soldered by a specialist, which we can send out, but the joint is never as strong. If your frame was bought here and is under manufacturer warranty, we handle the claim for you.
Cost
Adjustments and screws are free for glasses purchased at 20/20 Vision, and inexpensive for everyone else. We'd rather fix your glasses than sell you a pair you don't need. If the frame really is done, you're standing in front of several hundred options, and we'll help you find one that fits your prescription and your insurance allowance.
