Comprehensive Eye Exams

A full picture of your vision and eye health, not just a new number. Dr. Dolan looks closely, explains plainly and writes a prescription you can trust.

What your exam includes

  • A conversation about how you see, work, drive and relax
  • Precise refraction for glasses and, if you want them, contacts
  • Eye pressure and optic nerve check for glaucoma
  • Screening for cataracts, macular degeneration and diabetic changes
  • Binocular vision and focusing tests, especially for students and screen users
  • A plain-English explanation of everything Dr. Dolan finds

How often to come in

Most adults should be seen every one to two years. Children, contact lens wearers, and anyone with diabetes, high blood pressure or a family history of eye disease should be seen every year.

What to bring

  • Your current glasses and contact lenses (or the lens boxes)
  • Your vision and medical insurance cards
  • A list of medications
  • Sunglasses, in case you are dilated

Questions

How long does an eye exam take?

Plan on about an hour, including time with our opticians if you'd like to look at frames.

Is a school or DMV screening the same as an eye exam?

No. A screening only checks how well you read a chart. A comprehensive exam checks the health of the whole eye.
